Obituary of Marilynn Elizabeth Rome
With profound sadness, we share the passing of Marilynn Elizabeth Rome, in her 80th year, on March 26, 2021. Marilynn is preceded in death by her parents, Mary (McPherson) and William Melvin Rome. Born and raised in Culross Township, Bruce County, Marilynn later moved to Toronto where she spent the next 50+ years; a city girl at heart. She started her career as a primary school teacher and then transitioned to working for the Ontario Government. Marilynn spent almost 25 years working at various Ministries - primarily in a Human Resources capacity. Perhaps it was her time working with the Government that fueled her love of politics. Marilynn was a true "lady" in every sense. With her hair done, manicured nails and in the most beautiful of clothes, she was a gracious host and the perfect guest. Marilynn always had a smile on her face and a kind word for all. Her positive outlook and love for life touched everyone in her presence. Get togethers with family and friends for holidays, birthdays and any other excuse for a visit were Marilynn's favourite things to do. She was a dedicated "honourary" Aunt, a steadfast friend and, quite frankly, a wonderful person. Travel was another of Marilynn's passions. She travelled all through Europe and even the Far East. We all loved hearing about her travel adventures and knew we could expect a post card in the mail. Marilynn loved to feel the sunshine on her face and was sure to travel somewhere sunny every winter but the beaches on Lake Huron remained her favourite of all destinations. Marilynn will be greatly missed by all that knew her as she held a special place in everyone's heart. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mountainview Residence in Georgetown for their wonderful care and a special thank you to Sonia for her kindness and companionship. At the family's request, there will be no service at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions. In memory of Marilynn, a donation to Parkinson's Canada would be appreciated.
