Karen Parliament

Obituary of Karen Dianne Parliament

On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis Karen passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Georgetown Hospital. Those that had the honour of being allowed into Karen’s very small and selective world are forever grateful. Karen is survived by her son Dillon, best friend Harpreet, honorary niece Meaghan and the countless lives she saved and changed along the way. Karen was born on January 20th, 1963, in Burlington, Ontario. Over the course of Karen’s life, she held many respected positions, but the one that was near and dear to her heart was being a foster parent and mentor. Karen graduated from University of Manitoba in 2014 with her second degree in Social Work. She loved watching, playing and coaching sports, and was a die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan. Her caring and compassionate nature for all living things was shown by the many animals she rescued. Karen enjoyed sharing her experiences, knowledge, and love of children with the staff that were lucky enough to work in her home and be taken under her wings. Those that Karen welcomed into her home and heart were blessed to be considered family. Karen often joked that she created a family of misfits. She was very proud and protective of the family that she chose for herself, and the bond we shared was like no other. Don’t think of her as gone away, her journey just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and no years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today how nothing, but our sadness can really pass away. And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched for nothing loved is ever lost and she was loved so much. We love you today, tomorrow, and always until we meet again, may you rest in peace. Family and friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905) 877-3631 on Friday, November 5 from 8:30-10:30am. Funeral service to follow at 10:30am. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Norval. In lieu of flowers, donations to the MS Society would be appreciated. To view the funeral live stream please visit www.jonesfuneralhome.co
