Johnnie died peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in the home he loved, with his wife by his side.
Deeply saddened by this profound loss are his wife Ingrid, his children Sean (Amanda), David, Alan (Carrie), Matthew (Stephanie) and Opa to five grandchildren, Zarah, Emet, Carter, Jaxson, and Skylar. He was the son of Floria and predeceased by his father William, brother to David (Joanne), Jane (Rick), and uncle to Jennifer (David), Bill (Lia), Erik, Elizabeth (Zach) and nephews Kevin and Simon. Johnnie will also be missed by sister-in-law Irene, cousins Bert and Marianne, Tante Jelly, and extended family.
John began his career in Toronto after graduating with honours from the University of Western Ontario School of Business Administration (Ivey). He then joined his father working for McNally Construction and later became President. John wasn't planning on retiring because he loved the challenges of construction and rental units and was motivated in every aspect of the business. With the support of his wife, he had a wonderful journey and was deeply loved. He was a strong presence in the Georgetown community where he lived his whole life. He treated everyone with respect. John was a mentor, volunteered and donated to several local community events and organizations.
Lover of nature, rose and vegetable gardening, boating at the cottage, dinners with the kids and grandkids, golfing here and in Florida, coffee with Nick, and travelling. His morning ritual was feeding the birds, squirrels, and chippies in the backyard.
He had lived a balanced life doing everything he wanted.
In lieu of flowers please donate in John's name to an animal shelter or humane society or an animal veterinarian to support those who can't afford medical care for their pets.
There will be a private service for family only. A Gathering of Friends will be Saturday, June 18th, 2022 at The Club at North Halton from 11:00 - 2:00 p.m.
