Robert Blackburn

Robert
Blackburn

Manager & Owner

Rob’s journey to becoming a funeral director started when he was just 14 years old. His father died suddenly at the age of 40. With their family and his mother at a loss, the funeral home in Collingwood, Ont. looked after everything and helped them through this tough time. The experience stayed with him, inspiring him to pursue a similar path. Rob saw how important it was to care for people following the loss of their loved one and how creating a meaningful ceremony, gathering, celebration, or event supported them in their grief journey as it had when he was a boy.

Rob became licensed as a funeral director in 1986 and joined Jones Funeral Home as a Junior Funeral Director in 1989. Having managed the business for many years, he purchased shares in the business in 2012 and entered into a partnership with Toby Chisholm in 2018.

Rob is an active member of the community of Halton Hills.  Rob is a member of the Rotary Club of Acton and the Acton Curling Club.   Rob had been a member of the Kinsmen Club of Georgetown for over 30 years.  Although Rob is no longer a member of the Kinsmen Club, he continues to assist his Kinsmen friends with projects in the Georgetown community.

Advocacy has always been one of Rob’s core values. Since 2016, Rob is very proud to have been chosen and elected as one of nine professionals in Ontario, serving on the board for Guaranteed Funeral Deposits of Canada, which administer pre-paid funeral funds, provide administrative support and training and manage data for funeral homes and the bereavement sector nationwide.

Rob and his wife, Susan, are passionate about the community. Having raised two sons here, they proudly supported youth sports and other community programs. When he isn’t serving families as a funeral director or volunteering in the community, you’ll find Rob on the curling rink or at home watching sports, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
